What's new

Every Yappyy release, newest first. Yappyy updates itself; to update now, choose Check for Updates… in its menu bar menu.

    • See what's new before you update. The update window now shows the release notes, with a link to every past version at yappyy.com/changelog.

  2. Yappyy 0.2.12

    • Update button in Settings. When a new version is out, an Update to … button appears at the bottom of the Settings sidebar.
    • See your version. The menu bar menu and the Yappyy menu now show which version you're running.

  3. Yappyy 0.2.11

    • Nearby text for better accuracy. Yappyy reads the text just before your cursor and your last few dictations, so names and spelling match what's on screen. Never reads password fields. Turn it off in Settings → Data & Privacy.
    • Languages you speak. Pick any of 32 languages in Settings → General, and mix them in a sentence.
    • Lazy Yap keeps names capitalized. GitHub, OpenAI, and Sarah stay capitalized; everything else goes lowercase.
    • API key check. Settings and setup tell you right away if your AssemblyAI key works.
    • Clearer errors. Failed dictations say what went wrong: a bad key, no credits left, offline, or AssemblyAI having trouble.
    • New Data & Privacy tab. Everything Yappyy sends or keeps, in one place.

    • Diagnostic logging. Yappyy writes to the macOS log, so problems like recording stopping early can be tracked down. Never includes what you say.

    • A nicer installer window when you open the DMG.
    • Free credits note. Setup mentions that new AssemblyAI accounts get $50 in free credits.

    • Anonymous daily check-in. Once a day, Yappyy can send an anonymous count that you used it, so we know how many people are yapping. Never what you say. Turn it off anytime in Settings.
